20-21 Visual Arts Centre, Scunthorpe
Allen Tod won a competitive interview to design a proposal and manage
an Arts Lottery application for North Lincolnshire Council to create
a new visual arts centre, value £1,000,000.
The project was to design a new building to house a variety of visitor,
education and centre activities, together with the refurbishment of
a redundant Grade 2 church to create a major gallery space.
We have created a high quality contemporary building that will reflect
and enhance the qualities of the church and exploit the site to provide
a new enclosed sculpture court, at the same time helping to create
a more urban feel to the Square onto which the new Centre faces and
is a part.
Funding came from the Single Regeneration Budget, and Arts Council
lottery fund. Construction was completed in May 2001.
