Allen Tod was employed by Manchester University Psychology Department
to examine the future use of the two buildings that housed the department.
The buildings, constructed around a lightwell, had become gridlocked
as a result of repeated incremental expansion and alteration.
Following a thorough analysis of the needs of the department we developed
a solution that made effective use of the lightwell, freeing up and
rationalising the circulation through the buildings.
Our work extended to include the refurbishment and interior design
for the Chancellor's Room, listed Grade 1.
As a result of our involvement, the Department is able to provide
the level of facilities required to attract the best students and
staff.
