The
Calls, Leeds
Allen Tod Architecture studio is located in one of our own schemes,
on the top floor of a Grade 2 listed, seven storey riverside warehouse
in the heart of Leeds that has been instrumental in regenerating this
area of the city.
We were asked by developers Johnson Fry to produce a solution for
the use of the derelict building and developed a mixed use strategy
that took advantage of its key riverside position and recognised and
exploited its listed building qualities.
The building now contains a very successful pub with a terrace overlooking
the river Aire, four floors of apartments, and a top floor of open
plan offices.
The project received an RICS Urban Renewal Award
in 1995.
We believe as designers that it is important that our workplace reflects
our design skills and attitudes to the built environment. The open
plan nature of the space encourages communication and teamwork between
staff, essential elements of a good design process.
It is a pleasure to work in and much admired by our clients.
